USE

Usamos el Past Simple para hablar del pasado. En español
se puede traducir por el pretérito indefinido (I danced
– Yo bailé) o el pretérito imperfecto (I danced
– yo bailaba) Lo más importante es que es el tiempo en el
que contamos las cosas que nos sucedieron, es decir, las narraciones.

FORM

Para construir el Past Simple debes saber dos cosas,
una buena (good news) y otra mala (bad news):

Good News :)

Did. Pero solo para la forma afirmativa (Don't
panic!), fíjate bien:
Hi, there!

It's time to revise "Reported speech". The basic idea is that you use 'Reported Speech' (or estilo indirecto in Spanish) for telling what other people told.

Here is a video you should watch because it offers many examples of tense shift.

You could practise the reported speech with the following exercises.

Mixed Tense Reported Statement Exercise

With this activity you can learn the use of the modal verbs HAVE
(GOT) TO and SHOULD:

We use SHOULD to express ADVICE.

We use HAVE TO to express OBLIGATION in written and oral
communication. But we usually use HAVE GOT TO in oral communication,
for example in song.
So it's very common to find HAVE GOT TO in many different
versions, as they appear above:

have got to = 've got to = got to = gotta

Can you find more examples of SHOULD and HAVE (GOT) TO in the
song's lyrics?
Remember that have got to can appear in different
versions.
Para ello utilizaremos un video y los conectores:

and / but

First, / Then, / After that, / Next, / Finally,

También aprenderemos el uso de There's / There are
1. First, let's have a look at the video:

2. Then, let's answer the question: Usa los conectores para First, / Then, / After that, / Next, / Finally, para indicar el orden en que salen las habitaciones.
Where's the bee?

First, the bee is in the living room but it's not in the bedroom.

Next, The bee is in the bedroom but it's not in the kitchen

Then, ...

After, ...

...

...

...

Finally, ...

Repite con cada escena cambiando el nombre de las habitaciones y practica la pronunciación.

3. Finally, practise There's / There are with pieces of furniture, for example

What is there in the living room? / There's a sofa, a table, a picture and a picture.

What is there in the kitchen? / There's an oven, a sink, and a cupboard.

Puedes repetir todas las veces que necesites hasta adquirir el vocabulario que estás trabajando
Chema C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/17581547251639191504noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169763740767523755.post-6198821586401496992017-01-31T11:06:00.001+01:002017-01-31T11:08:15.949+01:00Verb + Object + to infinitiveHi, guys!
In this video you'll learn about a construction in English which is a bit complex for us, native Spanish speakers: VERB + OBJECT + TO INFINITIVE.
Watch this video for examples and explaination, it'll only take 2 minutes:

Now, you'll realise that this structure could substitued by a that-clause where the subject is what we call here the "object":
I want you to study harder.
I want that you study harder.

Then, the closest structure in Spanish is a Proposición subordinada sustantiva.
Quiero que estudies más.
This is a list of common verbs followed by OBJECT + TO INFINITIVE:
Verbs followed by an object and the to-infinitive

advise
allow
ask
beg
cause
choose

command
convince
enable
encourage
expect
force

hire
instruct
invite
need
order
permit

persuade
prepare
promise
remind
require
tell

threaten
urge
want
warn
wish
would like

And here are some exercises for you to practise:
There are two type of questions:

Yes / No questions (Y/N) > your answer is yes or no.

Wh- questions (WH-q) > your answer is an affirmative or negative sentence.

In the first video you can learn how to make questions in the present simple affirmative:

Ve el vídeo y haz un esquema parecido al que sale en él. Utiliza estas frases para poner sus partes en el esquema, tal y como te enseño en el vídeo.

Do you play tennis in summer?

In this video-lesson you'll learn the differences in use (usage) between the present perfect simple tense and the past simple tense.
If you're already familiar with the form of them you can skip until minute 2,05.
To review the lesson, you can follow these steps:

Watch the full video (or skip to the usage part)

When you feel you don't understand a concept. Rewind the video and play it again up to the point you didn't understood.

Take notes and make a diagram in a time-line with examples of present perfect and past simple.

Write questions about difficult aspects. We'll discuss on them in class.

If you think you know everything about present tenses, perhaps you should watch the following videos about ALL their uses.
Present Simple
Please, skip the 2 first minutes if you know how to form the present simple tense.

Did you remember all these uses of the present simple tense?
- Using the present simple to talk about regular actions.
- How to talk about general truths, states and situations using the present simple.
- How to describe long-lasting situations with the present simple.
- Using verbs of sensing, feeling, thinking or speaking with the present simple.
- How to use the present simple to tell jokes or stories in conversational English.
- Using the present simple in commentary, e.g. for a sports match.
- Using the present simple to talk about future schedules.

Present Continuous
Again, if you know how to form the present continuous you can skip the first minute and half (1.30 minutes).

As you can see, apart from using the present continuous for expressing:
- that an action is going on
- or an arragement in the future,
you can also use it for expressing:
- disgusting repetition with the adequate adverb Chema C.http://www.blogger.com/profile/17581547251639191504noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1169763740767523755.post-63004810485565101702016-06-09T10:13:00.000+02:002016-06-09T10:13:03.565+02:00Joining sentences with the relative pronouns: WHO, WHICH, WHERE, WHOSEFORM & MEANING.
A relative clause tells us which thing or person the speaker
means.
"The man who works in the bank is my brother" - 'who
works in the bank' tells us which man.

We use who in relative clauses for a
person. Who is followed by a verb.

We use whose in relative clauses instead
of his/hers/theirs. Whose is followed by a noun.

We use where in relative clauses to talk
about a place. Where is followed by a noun or pronoun.

We use which (and that) in relative
clauses to talk about a thing.

USE.
Relative pronouns are words like who, which, where and whose.
A relative pronoun serves two purposes. It acts as the subject or the
object (who, which), the place (where) or possessive pronoun (whose)
in the relative clause. It also serves as a conjunction connecting
the two clauses.
Examples:
I have a friend. She lives in New England.
I have a friend who lives in New England.

Here's a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry, be happy

4. Practica con toda la canción y reconocerás el ritmo que lleva.

Cuando leas en el examen tendrás que haber trabajado en casa la pronunciación de las "strong words", y haber escuchado el audio de la lectura para aprender a llevar el ritmo.
Las cosas que "hay" o que "no hay" pueden ser Countable o Uncountable.
Y de todo ello depende que utilicemos bien a (an), some y any.
En la siguiente presentación podrás estudiar cómo se utilizan.
